Zoals al eerder is geschreven op dit blog, is Bruce Springsteen geen aanhanger van de fascistoïde president Trump, zie ook het artikel Springsteen vs Trump. Op 17 januari trad Springsteen onverwacht op tijdens NEw Jersey’s Light Of Day Winterfest. Hij speelde het nummer The Promised Land en droeg het op aan de, op 7 januari 2026, door een ICE agent vermoorde Renee Good. Hij kondigde het nummer als volgt aan.
This next song is probably one of my greatest songs. And I don’t want to be out of water tonight, but I wrote this song as an ode to American possibility: both to the beautiful but flawed country that we are, and to the country that we could be. Now, right now, we are living through incredibly critical times. The United States, the ideals and the values for which it stood for the past 250 years, is being tested as it has never been in modern times. Those values and those ideals have never been as endangered as they are right now.
So as we gather tonight in this beautiful display of love and care and thoughtfulness and community, if you believe in democracy, in liberty; if you believe that truth still matters, and that it’s worth speaking out, and it’s worth fighting for; if you believe in the power of the law and that no one stands above it; if you stand against heavily armed, masked, federal troops invading American cities, and using Gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens; if you believe you don’t deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest; then send a message to this president. And as the mayor of that city has said, ICE should get the fuck out of Minneapolis. So this song is for you, and the memory of the mother of three and American citizen Renee Good.

Zoals bekend bleef het niet bij de dood van Renee Good. Op 24 januari 2026 werd verpleger Alex Pretti eveneens vermoord, door meerdere ICE agenten en met meerdere kogels. Ook nu bleek het te gaan om een onschuldige burger.
Net als ieder weldenkend mens was Springsteen boos, erg boos. Nog dezelfde dag schreef hij het nummer Streets Of Minneapolis. Vandaag (28 januari 2026) bracht hij het nummer uit met het volgende statement.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Inmiddels heeft het White House officieel gereageerd via woordvoerder Abigail Jackson. De reactie toont weer perfect aan waarom de regering Trump ronduit kwaadaardig is.
The Trump Administration is focused on encouraging state and local Democrats to work with federal law enforcement officers on removing dangerous criminal illegal aliens from their communities – not random songs with irrelevant opinions and inaccurate information.
The media should cover how Democrats have refused to work with the Administration, and instead, opted to provide sanctuary for these criminal illegals.

Apple’s iTunes maakte bekend dat Streets Of Minneapolis al binnen 3 dagen het meest beluisterde nummer is in maar liefst 19 landen: Australië, België, Canada, Denemarken, Duitsland, Finland, Frankrijk, Ierland, Italië, Luxemburg, Nederland, Nieuw Zeeland, Noorwegen, Oostenrijk, Spanje, het VK, de VS, Zweden en Zwitserland. Op YouTube staat de teller op ruim 8 miljoen weergaven.
Op 30 januari 2026 organiseerde Tom Morello A Concert of Solidarity & Resistance to Defend Minnesota!. Artiesten als Rise Against, Al Di Meola, Ike Reilly zouden aantreden en een Very Special Guest. De verwachting/hoop dat Bruces Springsteen de gast zou zijn werd op die avond bewaardheid. Springsteen trad op in het legendarische First Avenue en speelde Streets Of Minneapolis voor het eerste live.

Op 17 februari 2026 kondigde Bruce Springsteen een korte tour door de VS aan. Onder de naam Land Of Hope & Dreams American Tour zullen Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band 20 concerten geven. De tour start op 31 maart 2026 in Minneapolis en eindigt op 27 mei 2026 in Washington, D.C.
